THE
Pleasures
Of The Damned

An Americana bar holds a dramatic confrontation when an old drunk’s unstoppable day drinking is questioned by a young bartender.

Inspired by the Charles Bukowski poem; a glimpse into what keeps an addict drinking and the quiet suffering of those who seemingly give up everything in search of pleasure.

DIRECTORS STATEMENT

A lone person drinking in a bar, going hell
for leather and downing three pints before 9am.

We’ve all seen it. Some of us have been to it.
I wanted to make a film that shows what’s going on internally - the hidden struggle.
Not necessarily a struggle to be sober or better, but what keeps people locked into
their own suffering.

The film is about the duality of addiction. The ironic nature of suffering at your own hand - needing help but pushing away those that don’t understand.

It’s hopeful, proud and strives for brilliance yet somehow those same
virtues can be the undoing.
